JOHN H WALLACE HOUSE BED & BREAKFAST
Our History

What's in a name? The John H Wallace House Bed & Breakfast is in the thick of restoration. While construction is ongoing, we want to share some history of this old beauty. The story starts with James, John H 's father who hailed from Scotland through Maryland as a shop keeper. James was the ultimate inkeeper probably in the very home where our B & B will open. As the History of Pike County Chapter V (1886) says, "The wayfairing man ever found a lodging place with him (James Wallace) when he needed shelter and food". We feel the same way...We just won't make you take the Hiawatha Stage Coach from Port Jervis to enjoy our place. See you soon!

Ths John H Wallace House, under James's (the father) watch, was known as the "house of preachers". Huh...now we know why this old photo has a cross over the front door. James was a founding member of the Presbyterian Church in Milford. The Church was established as a Sunday school outreach for local logging families in the early 1800's. There won't be any preaching here at the B&B but we can offer you peace and calm right in the middle of town. See you soon!
